You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

  • Starting the Game
    • Click on the red play button with the white arrow on the game’s welcome screen.
      • This will invite you to choose a difficulty level.
        • Turn 1 Klondike Solitaire: In easy mode when you flip through the deck it is one card at a time, so you get to try to lay every card from the deck on each shuffle.
        • Turn 3 Klondike Solitaire: In hard mode you play by threes or flip through 3 cards at a time, so you only get a chance to lay every third card from the deck. As you lay cards from the deck it adjusts which third of the deck you can lay on subsequent shuffles through the remaining cards in the deck.
        • The welcome screen has 3 additional buttons across the top
          • Top left: developer information & full screen mode
          • Top right: sound control.
          • Game Controls
            • Game goal
              • Your goal is to stack all cards from the playing field onto the 4 foundations by suit, starting with the ace and working your way up.
                • Initially many cards are hidden under the stacks shown on the playing field. The playing field consists of 7 stacks with the following quantity of cards (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7). Only the top card from each stack is revealed at any point in time.
                  • Before laying most cards onto the foundation you have to lay cards onto descending stacks which alternate colors (e.g. red king, black queen, red jack, black 10, etc.)
                  • When you move a card from one stack to another then whichever card was underneath it is flipped over & becomes part of the game.
                  • Only Kings can be laid onto the tableau’s freecells (empty spots on the playing field).
                  • The game is beat when all 52 cards are placed onto the foundations. 28 cards are initially on the playing field with 21 of those hidden under other cards. The remaining deck you shuffle through starts with 24 cards, which is associated with 8 turns through it if you play on hard mode.
                    • Placement options
                      • On the playing field you must alternate suit colors, laying cards in descending order.
                      • You can move Kings or stacks of cards with a King in them onto empty columns on the playing field.
                      • On the foundation you lay cards by suit starting at ace & working your way up (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, & King).
                      • Scoring
                        • This game gives you 5 points for any card you lay onto the board for the first time.
                        • Cards laid onto the foundations are worth 15 points.
                        • Time works against you in this game, with 8 points being deducted from your total score every 30 seconds.
                        • Strategy
                          • No undo
                            • Microsoft solitaire has an undo move button. This game does not, which makes it more difficult than it would otherwise be.
                            • Be cautious before making moves as you can’t easily undo them.
                            • Card preference
                              • In general it is better to lay cards from the board rather than pulling them from the reserve deck you can flip through.
                                • Each time you flip through the reserves you have the opportunity to lay at least 1/3 of the cards if they have a spot on the board they fit.
                                • The rightmost stack initially starts with 6 cards buried under it. You have to play the top card and each of the subsequent 5 cards before you know what the final card in that stack is.
                                • Memorizing the deck & your needs
                                  • On some games it is obvious you need a black 8 or a red 9 or some other such card that is clearly important at that stage of the game. Be sure to track the playing board to know what you really need & as you flip through the deck be sure you remember if those cards appear in it and where.
                                    • In some cases the deck will have 2 of a particular color and number available to lay and either only one will be accessible based on you seeing every third card, or both could be playable though you have to determine which one makes more sense to lay.
                                      • If the card under a card is also important than pick that version to lay.
                                      • If both are roughly equal options then you want to select the card which is earlier in the deck as reshuffling earlier on in the deck will flip you through a wider variety of cards for the remainder of the deck (while playing one near the end of the deck will only alter perhaps a single card or two of what you see on subsequent deals).
                                      • Placing cards onto the foundation
                                        • In some cases it makes sense to lay cards onto the foundation before stacks are complete in order to make room for other cards & to be able to play other cards from the deck or cards atop other stacks.
                                        • There is no iron rule for when one *must* first lay cards across onto the foundations, though there is no risk laying a card if all lower cards from the opposite suit have already been played or can also be added to their foundations.
                                          • If the deck is low on cards or is stuck in a certain spot sometimes you have to lay something on a foundation even if you are uncertain of what cards it will expose.
                                          • Other times it makes sense to lay a card from the board onto a foundation to allow you to reshuffle the deck if you are on hard mode where you only get to see every third card.
                                          • Klondike Solitaire Download

                                            • This game is a lightweight JavaScript web application. You can download it while at home or work over a wired or wifi internet connection.
                                              • The game will stay in your web browser of your desktop computer, laptop, tablet or Android or Apple cell phone even if you go offline.
