Play Ride the Bus online for free. Ride the Bus is a variation of the game 31. Try to get 3 of a kind to score 30 points or get as close as 31 as you can by having multiple high-value cards in the same suit. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

Select the yellow and white Play button on the game’s welcome screen.
The welcome screen also has buttons for game help, viewing high scores, and playing more games.
The lower left corner of the welcome screen has a language select dropdown while the lower right corner has buttons for sharing the game on social media & reading game developer information.
Game Controls
- Desktop
  - Use your mouse left click button to select either a card from the deck or the top card from the waste pile.
  - Use your mouse left click button to discard any card you do not want in your hand.
  - After the first pass you can click the Stop the Bus indicator to end your hand and give opposing players one more round before comparing hands.
  - Touchscreen devices
    - Tap the screen with a finger to select & use it like a mouse.
    - Controls & indicators
      - Each player has their remaining coins and cumulative game score shown near their name.
      - The right column of the game has buttons to control game sound, control game music, pause the game & switch to full screen mode.
      - Game Play
        Hand scoring
        Aces are worth 11, face cards are 10, and all other cards are worth their pip value.
        Your score is 30 points if you get 3 of a kind.
        Beyond a 3 of a kind you only score based on whichever suit you perform best in, meaning if you have the Ace of Spades along with a King of Hearts and a 3 of Hearts you would score 13 points and the Ace of Spaces would not count.
        Winning & losing hands
        Each player starts the game with 3 tokens. When all tokens are lost it is game over.
        Whoever gets in last place on each hand loses a token.
        If you stop the bus and lose the hand you lose 2 tokens.
        Point scoring
        Your total game score is cumulative across all hands.
        Hand score by placement
        The winner of a hand scores their pip value times 100.
        The second place player in a hand scores their pip value times 50.
        The third place player in a hand sources their pip value times 33.
        The fourth place player in a hand scores their pip value times 25.
        All scores are rounded to 100, so if you would have scored 858 (e.g. 26 * 33) that would become 900.
        If you stop the bus but do not win nor lose the hand (e.g. get second place with at least 3 players left in the game) you get a bonus 500 points.
        Strategy
        Winning the overall game is about preserving tokens rather than scoring the maximum point total.
        When there are 3 or 4 players in the hand it can help to be aggressive with pressing the Stop the Bus button early if you have 20 or more points, as there is a good chance at least 1 competitor will have fewer points.
        When the game is down to 2 players it makes sense to be more conservative with when you call the bus as your competitor may have got a good deal & you lose 2 tokens if their hand is better than your hand, which means even if you started with 3 tokens you would only be 1 other routine hand loss away from losing the game.
        If you are trying to get the highest point score possible it can make sense to hold out until you have a great score before calling to stop the bus.
